STHL Advanced Electronics Factory

High-Density SMT Packaging & Component Assembly

Our surface mount capabilities are designed to handle complex component requirements, ensuring high precision and electrical reliability:

  • BGA & uBGA (Ultra-Fine Ball Grid Array): We inspect and place pitches down to 0.35mm with high placement accuracy, minimizing voids and open solder joints.
  • QFN, QFP, SOIC, and PLCC: Advanced reflow profiling handles complex configurations, mitigating tombstoning and component shifting.
  • Package-on-Package (PoP): Stacking logic and memory devices reduces footprint requirements and optimizes signal integrity for next-gen IoT and smart systems.

We utilize automated optical inspection (AOI) and high-resolution 3D X-Ray laminography to detect internal solder voids, misalignment, and hidden defects.

Technical & Quality FAQ

Answers to common technical, quality, and supply chain questions for PCBA and PCB fabrication projects.

1. How does STHL guarantee quality for medical (ISO 13485) and automotive (IATF 16949) assemblies?
We follow structured quality control plans. Every batch undergoes 3D solder paste inspection (SPI), automated optical inspection (AOI), and X-ray analysis for BGAs. For medical and automotive products, we perform functional testing, thermal cycling, and burn-in tests. We maintain complete trace records for components, solder logs, and test results for a minimum of 5 years.
2. What are the key capability limits for SMT component placement?
Our SMT lines handle components down to 01005 passives and ultra-fine pitch BGAs and CSPs with a pitch down to 0.35mm. We use modern pick-and-place systems with visual alignment systems to maintain placement accuracy within ±0.03mm.
3. Do you offer alternative component sourcing recommendations?
Yes, our sourcing team analyzes Bills of Materials (BOMs) to identify single-source or obsolete components. We can recommend pin-to-pin compatible alternatives from verified tier-1 suppliers, which can help reduce lead times and product costs.
4. What substrate materials do you support for high-frequency or high-power electronics?
For high-power applications, we manufacture metal core PCBs (aluminum and copper substrates) and thick copper boards (up to 10oz). For RF, high-speed digital, and high-frequency systems, we process Rogers, Taconic, Arlon, and High-Tg FR-4 (Tg 170/180) laminates.
5. How does STHL protect intellectual property?
We sign Non-Disclosure Agreements (NDAs) with our clients. All client data, including Gerber files, schematics, and firmwares, is stored on isolated servers. Access is restricted to authorized engineers, and we use secure networks to prevent unauthorized data transfers.
6. What testing methods are available for finished PCB assemblies?
We provide a range of testing options: In-Circuit Testing (ICT) to check for component values and opens/shorts, Flying Probe testing for prototype runs, Functional Testing (FCT) to verify board logic and performance, and Environmental Stress Screening (ESS) to test reliability under varying temperatures.
